Homer, Aristotle, Socrates, Plato, and others were the first ‘thinkers’ of the world. Their sole purpose in life was to philosophize about the world. They wrote books, the first of the kind being Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey. Over the span of the Greek and Roman empires, the philosophers wrote many famous works, the first of their kind. For the first time in history people were not as much concerned about basic survival and could question the world around them and write about it.
