| The war reparations imposed on Germany were astronomical,
and the country experienced rapid inflation and the devaluing of their currency.
Because of Germany’s ruin, Charles Dawes recommended that the French
leave the Ruhr valley and allow the Germans to rebuild. The worried the
French because they knew someday the Germans would get back their power
and get revenge. |
