| Czar Nicholas II abdicated in 1917, and no one succeeded
him, and thus Russia was a Republic. A series of provisional governments
were created and dismissed, and an eventual civil war ensued the country.
Lenin emerged as the leader of the Bolsheviks became the leader of Russia
in a socialist republic. |
