| Italy, previously a bunch of smaller nation-states ruled
by several different powers in Europe finally came together. The Italians
got help from the French to get rid of Austria in the Venetian part of Italy.
This worked successfully, but the French went behind the Italian’s
back and made a separate peace with the Austrians, with a negative impact
to the Italians. Thus displeased, the Italians then kicked out the French
who occupied Rome and declared themselves a country. Eventually the smaller
parts of present day Italy, including Sicily and the southern area were
added piece by piece, completing Italy |
