Along with the British explorers came their drugs. The Opium marked exploded in around 1840, and because an extreme problem. The Chinese demanded that Brittan take their opium and leave, but they refused and instead took over the ports of Hong Kong and others. They were in it for the long haul as Hong Kong was recently given back to China.
